Proceedings of the IGSC Safety Case Symposium 2024: Moving Towards the Construction of a Safe DGR – Getting Real

NEA/RWM/R(2026)8

The Integration Group for the Safety Case (IGSC) was established in 2000 by the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) Radioactive Waste Management Committee (RWMC) in recognition of the need for continued progress in developing, reviewing and updating safety cases for geological repositories.

For more than two decades, the IGSC has taken a leading role in identifying, documenting and evaluating emerging issues and trends, and in establishing consensus on good practice in safety case development.

The IGSC holds Safety Case Symposia on a regular basis to share its work, discuss emerging themes and trends in safety case development, and identify areas for future work. The IGSC Safety Case Symposium 2024 was the fourth in a series that the IGSC had been organising since 2007, in co-operation with other international organisations.
